On Christmas Eve a year ago I went out to shoot a twilight picture of the famous Handelskade quay in the harbor of Willemstad, Curacao. This is where at one time one of the major trading ports of the New World saw most of its activity. The heavy trading volume brought vast amounts of wealth to the traders and the Kingdom of The Netherlands.
In 1997 the historic city center of Willemstad was added to UNSESCO’s World Heritage List in part because of the peculiar style of the architecture and the harbor entrance like seen on the Handelskade.
December 26th marks my first Flickr-versary so I have reprocessed the picture from a year ago and uploaded it to the same place holder in my Flickr account.
Because of Flickr I have met many amazing photographers (and people for that matter) on- and off line. It has been a fun filled year in which I have learned loads from all of you.
(I also shot a twilight picture on Christmas Eve this year which I will upload soon. BTW this year's version is very different due to the multicolored floodlighting used on the quay for the Holiday Season. ) Edit: I finally uploaded the new picture. Click.
